Contents

The course “Environmental Sciences” deals with environmental challenges and the scientific communication of these.
  • Firstly, it provides an in-depth view on the following topics: the environment as a system; international environmental policies; earth system science; interaction of society and the natural environment; global challenges; historic development of the discipline Environmental Sciences.
  • Also, cutting-edge topics from research in environmental sciences are presented with a focus on current research issues and projects of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
  • In addition to the academic discussion of environmental challenges, techniques for scientific communication are taught: poster preparation, literature search, rhetoric, presentation, citation and feedback.
Sustainability relevance of the course content:
The course „Environmental Sciences“ provides a holistic view of current environmental challenges, their impacts on society and possible ways to tackle them. Various environmental challenges will be presented and discussed in the context of specialist lectures by different chairs.
